Hi there, new member here. Your podcast is really insightful and has shed a new light for me. I am aiming to live a healthier and active life. I know what I should do, but I can't seem to create realistic goals and stick with them, especially when it comes to exercising and dieting. Any tips or tricks to help would be much appreciated.
Thank you for this opportunity to ask questions! Notoriously difficult to treat and manage, what is causing the rise in gout around the world? How can it be prevented, treated and stabilized through lifestyle medicine? The National Library of Medicine states that 7.44 million cases of gout were estimated worldwide in 2017 with gout incidence, prevalence, and health loss considerably increasing during the last 25 years. Beyond the pain, mobility restriction, and serious consequences to daily life, predictions also include a projection suggesting gout mortality may increase by 55% in 2060. Hi Ranjan - Thank you so much for your valuable work and inspirational podcasts. So grateful for bringing all the experts so we can manage our own good health. My 2.5 old grandson has special needs and is currently in hospital for a severe chest infection and fluid on the lungs. He normally eats healthy natural food but since being in hospital has only been offered unhealthy trans fat processed food. Do you know what the reason is for giving patients unhealthy food whilst in hospital. Many thanks. Lynda Cant - lynda@lyndacant.com
I would appreciate a discussion on how to cure ostheoaerhritis in knees and hips. Maybe from an orthopedic specialist who is openminded and has a functional medicine approach. I find little more than how to decrease pain and only anecdotes about getting cured or stop the degeneration.
I have had RLS since being small, my mother also had it. It affects me pretty much everyday as it prevents me from relaxing properly in the evenings, and frequently disturbs my sleep as the only way to ease the 'pain' is to get up and walk around. It affects shows, the cinema, meditation, travel, anywhere where I am in a confined space. Exercise and being over tired can make things worse. I'm trying Magnesium supplements, but not convinced. Any ideas and how do others cope? Sometimes I do get RLS in my arms!
How do I get my GP to work with me on reducing medication please? I'd like to try using food instead of statins and apple cider vinegar instead of omeprazole. I don't want to go behind his back. I want us to work together without him dismissing me as someone who won't follow what he says. Thank you.
Being diagnosed with cancer is overwhelming - immediately you are in fight or flight mode, ping-ponging from appointments, and into surgery, chemo, radiotherapy and hard-core meds. I was diagnosed with breast cancer (at age 44) in May and as a long-time listener of yours, I went back and used a lot of tools from previous podcasts, in particular on breathing, meditation and fasting, and found these really helpful. My question is, what are the key things I can do as someone who will have to live with the prospect of cancer reoccurrence for the rest of my life, to try and control what I can control and give myself the best chance of preventing reoccurrence. What interventions that I can make might have the most impact? Dietary? Meditation? Stress management? Controlling inflammation? Supplements? Better early detection? I love your show and the diversity of topics you cover, thank you Rangan!
My partner tends to have a “glass half empty” attitude and I’m the opposite. I feel guilty when I go out on my own but it’s crucial for my mental and physical health. I would love to learn about ways of communicating more successfully because I want him to be happy and I want both of us to enjoy life…. Thankyou so much for all that you do Rangan. I have learnt so much from you and your podcast guests . Thankyou
Hi Rangan, I enjoy your podcast since about 1,5 years and love to recommend it to other people. It’s one of the best podcasts I came across, so the monthly fee is a brilliant way to support you and your message, your dedication. I‘d like to ask about one of your sponsors products - as you are taking Athletic Greens Supplements for quite some time now, what could you report what changed with your health, what you would reconcile to taking these regularly? I‘d love to hear about your or your families experiences. Thanks a lot for your time and looking forward to the AMA sessions, Petra
Would you be able to do a podcast on thyroid disorders and treatment in the uk. My daughter has been diagnosed with Hashimotos after 4 years of fatigue and other symptoms. The doctor has prescribed t4 medication and told her she will be on it for life. No lifestyle changes were recommended and I have had to pay for a functional practitioner to advise her on these. After 2 months on medication she was told her levels were better so to halve her dose, even though she feels no better. Since her diagnosis I have researched thyroid issues and this seems to be a very common issue . The lack of t3 medication owing to the vast price charge to the NHS is also an issue. I know you did a programme about this but can only find an interview you did on bbc news and not the actual programme itself. Maybe your website could include links to your TV programmes too as they were all very interesting but not easy to find.
I am a newly certified health coach in the US. I'd really love to incorporate your approach into my coaching, while staying within scope of practice. I also see that you offer education for doctors with the lifestyle medicine approach. Do you anticipate offering training for coaches? Do you have any suggestions for implementing your approach within the health coaching scope of practice? Thank you!
Given the recent ability to reverse some forms of diabetes, is there any hope for new treatments or strategies to reverse hypo-thyroidism? I have had hypo-thyroidism since 2000, following the birth of my first child. I take 125mcg levothyroxine daily. I have watched the research into diabetes with interest but have no idea what research might be happening into other hormonal/metabolic disorders and would love to know.
Please could you do an episode on the most effective ways of reducing high blood pressure. During lockdown, I made progress with weight loss and exercise (thanks partly to your podcast!) and reduced medication by half. However, I have not been on blood pressure medicine for that long, nor has my GP suggested alternatives other than pills. The first pill I tried was terrifying and I felt sea-sick most of the time. The second - losartin potassium - has not had the side effects but seems less effective. I don't want to be taking these pills so what can I do to help myself come off them?
Firstly, a huge thank you Rangan for all of the amazing work that you have done & continue to do, to improve so many people’s lives. I would appreciate hearing from an expert on the menopause. Female bodies go through so much through the menopause which impact physically, emotionally and spiritually. I would particularly like to hear about tips for optimum health, post menopause, without taking HRT or any other medication. Thanks Rangan
I know you have experience caring for relatives. I live with and care for my grandparents in their late 80s. I find myself very stressed as there is always something to be done alongside managing working full time and my own life. How do you best manage the stress of providing care and trying to look after your own life too. Thanks very much!
